-- Nothing by mouth for 6 hours prior to surgery, no gum. -- Wear comfortable clothing, no nail polish, no contact lenses. -- Place patch on the BACK of your left hand 2 hours prior to surgery (children will be given an oral sedative when they arrive). -- Arrive at the dental office 1 hour before the scheduled surgery. The anaesthetist will examine you before the proceeds with the anaesthetic. -- Please bring your Health Card with you. -- A qualified physician will be present at all times throughout the surgery.
Post Operative Instructions
-- Following the procedure you will be monitored by a Registered Nurse until your discharge (approx. 30 – 40 minutes). Parents are allowed in with children immediately. -- You must not drive a car or machinery for 24 hours. -- You must leave with a responsible adult and go straight home. -- Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours. -- You may have a sore throat. This will disappear in a few hours. -- Should it persist you may suck on throat lozenges.
